Hello growers I developed a slight Magnesium deficiency in my Pugs Breath girls from letting them get root bound in their 1 gallon pots.
I transplanted them up into their 5 gallon pots while at the same time transitioning them to FloraFlex nutrients and the issue got severly worse. Almost all deficiency’s start from having a PH imbalance and that is exactly what happened to me after transplanting. My nutrient reservoirs PH shifted way high up into the 6.4-6.5 range and my girls got completely locked out of magnesium. The corrective steps to fix this issue is checking your PH before each watering and making sure it’s dialed in. The lockout got bad enough that it took near 3-4 weeks to correct and it’s been a real painful process. I’m sharing in hopes to help my follow growers that run into the same issue.

You should also treat your soil to some Dolomite Lime it not only helps to stabilize soil ph which helps in preventing lock out but also acts as a Blossem End Rot Block and plants love it.
Is dolomite lime hard to control before Mg toxicity?
If applied correctly you shouldn't have any issues and one treatment will be enough for a whole growing season.I purchase 1 pound bags of Dolimite Lime and only use half on 32 quarts of soil although the directions suggest the whole bag, as with any other additive using Less Is Better Than More @Scorpionleader
You premix it then?
@Scorpionleader Mix it into the top 4 inches of potting mix then lightly cover it with more of your growing medium. If your not comfortable with Dolimite Lime you can apply calcium carbonate but I prefer Dolimite Lime.
for anyone with mag deficiency and it's not a ph problem a cost effective source of magnesium is Epsom salt. Hope this helps someone out.✌
Jgood I have some Epson salt ready to go. I haven't used it yet because I'm really putting FloraFlex to the test.
Thanks for the adviceBLG, I’ll watch out for that - God bless - Rick
I read somewhere using oyster flour helps stabilize the ph in your medium.
Is this correct?
